There’s a few words here that I didn’t know, that didn’t appear in the vocabulary or expressions

I felt I was missing a little bit of the text, which is unusual in the shorties because as a rule everything is explained, maybe I’m having one of those learning days where nothing makes sense, ha ha!!
If you toggle on Translate for the full translation, but it’s still not clicking, you can toggle on Look Up mode and then search individual words that aren’t in the Vocab. This will open them in the Translator pop up window. You can also type in longer phrases there. (I went ahead and added ‘mesmo ao pé’ and ‘deter o recorde…’ to the Expressions.) This word seems to be a plural….what is there in the sentence structures in the Arouca bridge podcast that mandates a plural instead of a singular form?
Sorry, which plural word were you referring to?
Sorry,…I think it got cut off from my original question. Word is « simples. ». Isn’t this plural? Why?
The word “simples” can indeed be confusing as it looks plural but is both the singular and plural form of the word. There’s no such word as “simple” in Portuguese! Only “simples”. I hope this clears up the confusion. 🙂
Wow…what a surprise. So then we would say “A pergunta é simples”?
Exactly! “Simples” is always “simples”, regardless number or gender. “Simples” as that! 😉
Examples:
– A pergunta é simples.
– O assunto é simples.
– As questões são simples.
– Os jogos são simples.
