I had the pleasure of visiting Portugal exactly one year ago today and fell in love with your amazing country. To prepare for that trip, I’d tried to teach myself Portuguese with DuoLingo and Rosetta Stone but sadly was very surprised when I got to Portugal and realized how different so much of the vocab and the accents are! I was determined to come home and learn European Portuguese, so while that meant much starting over from the beginning, I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have found your wonderful website & app (I’m also listening to your podcast as I type this!). To my knowledge, you’re the only people providing such detailed & helpful resources specific to European Portuguese (I especially appreciate the detailed language lessons that come with each unit–something that’s very hard to find with any other language learning site!).

This app is the best thing since sliced pão! I have tried others that advertised Portuguese but it was always Brazilian. Not to mention how lessons are set up, reviews and all the other features that make Practice Portuguese so much fun! Being French, I am used to gender and different verb endings. It is perfect for my style of learning and it is full of real Portuguese. … The most useful thing on your site is where you have a short video of somebody saying a phrase naturally. It really helps to mimic the lip and mouth movements and shapes. It is short so it can be copied and practiced. That is great!

I just wanted to say obrigada for the lessons! I…was able to converse, haltingly but effectively, as needed on our recent trip to Lisbon. This is no small feat, given that I’m in my mid-50’s and learning a language as difficult as Portuguese does not come easily. The Portuguese people were so sweet and willing to speak with me in Portuguese (even gently correcting my pronunciation on occassion). They were surprised and appreciative that I attempted it. It definitely added to our trip and my husband was flat out amazed (bonus!).
